Melrose RFC are delighted that Electra-com are back to support our rugby activities, through their sponsorship of the Ladies tournament.

The club has benefited, over a number of years, from the financial support of the company, together with personal support of Harry and Jackie Cummings, the founders of the business.

Harry is always ready to give his views on how the 1st XV are playing and his banter is a welcome presence in the clubrooms.

For the first time ever at the world famous Melrose Sevens there will be a Ladies Club Sevens Tournament which will be held on Thursday 10th April 2008. It will be part of special celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of the origin and first playing of sevens in Melrose in 1883.

The Ladies Tournament will consist of 8 teams, each with a squad of 10. The format will be to have two groups of four with each team playing the other teams in their group and thereafter winning teams competing in finals.

Participation is by invitation however there are places available and if you are interested in entering a team then please email ladies@melrose125.com and advise us of your team and where you come from and it may be you could qualify for one of the available places.

Social and Other Activities

There are functions laid on for the three evenings of Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10th - 12th April as well as Vets and Youth tournaments on the Thursday and Friday and the main sevens event on Saturday 12th April.

Other activities include The Greenyards Village which will be open on Friday and Saturday and will encompass various food, drink and retail outlets. In total, over the three days there will be over 700 participants and on the Saturday of the sevens we anticipate a crowd of 10,000 plus.
